(ANSA) - ROME, SEP 5 - A 16-year-old died from his injuries after being stabbed in an attack reported on Wednesday night in Bologna, investigative sources said Thursday.
Another teen, aged 17, was injured in what investigators believe was a brawl between minors after a fight for futile reasons that started on social media.
The 16-year-old victim died while he was being taken to Bologna's Maggiore Hospital.
Another minor has been arrested by police who also found the alleged murder weapon, investigative sources said.
The alarm was raised at around 10:30 at night by residents of Via Piave in the city's Saffi district, where the murder occurred, who heard someone screaming for help.
Police intervened and opened an investigation into the dynamic of the murder and to identify who was responsible.
According to preliminary investigations, the fight that led to the murder was caused by threats exchanged on social media for futile reasons by a group of teens from the same neighbourhood, police sources said.
The brawl started at the Velodromo park and continued in Via Piave, where a young Italian took out a knife and started stabbing the two teens, the victim, an Italian of African descent, and the teen who was injured, who is from Bangladesh.
