(ANSA) - ROME, SEP 5 - Italy's double MotoGP world champion Francesco Bagnaia on Thursday publicly apologized to Alex Marquez for having suggested the Spaniard had deliberately caused him to crash at last weekend's Aragon Grand Prix.
"I apologise to Alex for the very strong words I used in the after-race interview," Ducati factory rider Bagnaia told a press conference ahead of this weekend's San Marino Grand Prix.
"I didn't mean to say that he intentionally caused me to fall, but that his defence was too aggressive.
"Sometimes anger makes you say things you don't think.
"He came to our office to apologize.
    "It ended there".
Bagnaia lost the top spot in the standings and dropped 23 points behind leader Jorge Martin last weekend. (ANSA).
