(ANSA) - ROME, SEP 6 - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Friday that he was set to attend the Ambrosetti Forum, an annual international economic conference at Cernobbio on Lake Como, and have talks with Italian Premier Giorgia Meloni.
After arriving at the US Air Base in Ramstein, Germany, for a meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group (UDCG), Zelensky posted on Telegram that: "then it will be Italy's turn".
He said he would be at the "Ambrosetti International Economic Forum" for "meetings with Italian business representatives" and "negotiations with the Italian Prime Minister, George Meloni.
"Let's coordinate our positions with all the G7 allies," he said. Earlier this week Valerio De Molli, the managing director of The European House Ambrosetti (TEHA) that organizes the forum, said he expected Zelensky to attend and hoped to get him to shake hands Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, saying this could be the "symbolic photo" of the 50th edition of the Ambrosetti Forum, "like the one between Perez and Arafat." Upon arriving in Cernobbio on Friday, Orban, who has criticized European support and aid for Ukraine after the Russian invasion, said he hoped Zelensky would come to the forum. (ANSA).
