Both were ringleaders of recent disturbances says Sappe

(ANSA) - ROME, SEP 8 - Two brothers have escaped from Milan's Beccaria juvenile jail, prison guards union Sappe said on Sunday.
The jail break comes amid widespread alarm about conditions and overcrowding in Italian jails, following a spate of suicides among inmates and a series of episodes of unrest.
A riot took place at Beccaria last weekend. Alfonso Greco, the leader of Sappe in Lombardy, said that the brothers were the ringleaders of recent disturbances and it was the third time one of them had tried to escape.
"Sappe has been asking for months for a position to be adopted at ministerial level to protect those who work on the front line in prison -. the women and men of the penitentiary police," Greco said. (ANSA).
