Canadian dies in snowstorm in Val Gardena

(ANSA) - ROME, SEP 13 - A 57-year-old Canadian mountaineer has died in a snowstorm that pummelled the area of Val Gardena in Alto Adige on Thursday, rescue services said Friday.
    The woman was trekking with her 56-year-old partner from the mountain lodge Genova to the Puez lodge when they lost their way. They were able to call for help late on Thursday but a helicopter operated by the local rescue service was unable to reach the pair due to poor visibility.
    Alpine rescuers and the Puez shelter's manager reached the location on foot but the woman had already lost her senses and died shortly afterwards. (ANSA).
