(ANSA) - ROME, SEP 26 - The death toll in a family massacre
at Nuoro in Sardinia rose to five including the father-shooter
as two victims were pronounced brain dead Wednesday night.
A 52-year-old forestry worker killed his wife, two children and
a neighbour in Nuoro Wednesday with a 7.
Another son was also wounded. The massacre with five dead and
two wounded was carried out for currently unknown and
inexplicable reasons, police said.
The 43-year-old wife and 23-year-old daughter, who were hit
first, died instantly. For the 10-year-old son and a 69-year-old
neighbour, the landlord, who appeared on the landing at the time
of the massacre, a declaration of brain death came Wednesday
evening.
Injured but not in life-threatening condition were the
murderer's mother and a 14-year-old son.
What happened to trigger the fury of the man, described by
neighbours as a quiet person, remains a mystery for the time
being. (ANSA).
