Commerzbank's strategy 'built on independence' - Orlopp

(ANSA) - ROME, OCT 1 - Commerzbank's new CEO Bettina Orlopp told employees on her first day in office Tuesday that she would advocate for a strategy based on the bank's independence.
    "Our strategy is effective and offers a meaningful value to all stakeholders.
    "It is built on the bank's independence", Orlopp said in a video message.
    The new CEO also said the German lender is "working tirelessly" with a team of experts to respond to Italy's second-largest bank UniCredit which has acquired a 21% stake in Commerzbank, adding, according to a Bloomberg report, that she understands that "the current uncertainty is concerning for many of you".
