(ANSA) - ROME, OCT 4 - The Lazio Region today presented its participation in Expo 2025 Osaka where, from 17 to 24 May 2025, it will be present with its own exhibition space inside the pavilion reserved for Italy. The meeting, which opened with institutional greetings from the Japanese ambassador to Italy Satoshi Suzuki, was attended by Francesco Rocca, president of the Lazio Region; Roberta Angelilli, vice president and councilor for Economic Development, Trade, Crafts, Industry, Internationalization; Mario Vattani, commissioner general for Italy at Expo 2025 Osaka; Lorenzo Tagliavanti, president of the Rome Chamber of Commerce; Giuseppe Biazzo, president of Unindustria; Massimo Tabacchiera, president of Confapi Lazio; Luciano Mocci, general director of Federlazio; Francesco Marcolini, president of Lazio Innova.
During the presentation, the initiatives in favor of the Lazio production system were illustrated, with the program of activities to support the participation of companies in the Japanese Universal Exhibition.
"Designing the society of the future for our lives" is the central theme of Expo 2025 Osaka, focused on the relationship between tradition, creativity and technological innovation, which is expressed through three sub-themes: Saving, Empowering and Connecting lives. Italy interprets it with "Art regenerates Life", where "art" is understood in a broad sense, synonymous with the creativity and "Italian know-how" that distinguishes our country in the world. The Italy Pavilion, designed by architect Mario Cucinella, is a modern reinterpretation of the Ideal City of the Renaissance, which places man at the center of the society of the future. In this context, Lazio will participate under the banner of "Lazio, a great history a bright future" to represent the excellence of the production, cultural and research system present in the territory. At Expo 2025 Osaka, the Lazio Region will promote its cultural traditions and technological excellence, through an approach capable of bringing together the legacy of the past and the prospects of the future, in order to project into the present the profile of a region that is growing and innovating, ready to compete on global markets and to face the great challenges of our time.
"The Italy Pavilion will exhibit its varied charm through the participation of the Italian regions. I can't wait to discover what the Lazio Region, home to Rome the Eternal City, and one of the most beautiful capitals in the world, will show. Expo Osaka is also an exceptional opportunity for trade. I have no doubt that the appeal of Made in Italy will lead to new business opportunities through Expo", said the Ambassador of Japan to Italy, Satoshi Suzuki.
"The Lazio Region is aware of the importance of Universal Exhibitions for the valorization of the excellence of the territories, of the business, university and cultural world. It is a fundamental event for scientific, technological and cultural progress, as well as an opportunity for the participating countries to show their innovations and traditions. The Osaka Expo, with its theme "Designing Future Society for Our Lives" and its sub-themes: Saving Lives, Empowering Lives and Connecting Lives, has a focus that is particularly dear to me, considering the roles that I have had the honor of covering previously, but also the current one. We are proud to participate in the Expo Osaka 2025 with its districts, including aerospace, agriculture, biotech, technological innovation; an important showcase for the companies and productions of Lazio", explained the President of the Lazio Region, Francesco Rocca.
"The presence in Lazio of excellences in high technology, the aerospace industry and the pharmaceutical industry help us in our aim of presenting a complete image of Italy on a global stage like Expo, also bringing Lazio's experience in the field of attracting foreign investments. Yesterday's news was the inauguration of a new significant investment in Rieti by the large Japanese company Takeda. Naturally, agri-food, a fundamental element of our exports, is also an important point of contact with Japan, with which we share a gastronomic culture based on territorial supply chains. In Osaka we will promote sustainable practices promoted by the Italy-Japan memorandum of understanding signed at the recent G7 Agriculture", said Mario Vattani, commissioner general for Italy at Expo 2025 Osaka.
"Participation in Expo Osaka represents a strategic opportunity to promote the culture, industry, tourism and excellence of our region. A unique opportunity to show the world the traditions, innovation and peculiarities of Lazio, with the aim of attracting investments and creating new international collaborations, helping to improve the visibility and the image of our region at a global level. For this reason, we will guarantee our support to local companies that will be present at the exhibition", added the vice president of the Lazio Region, Roberta Angelilli.
And precisely to encourage the participation of Lazio companies at Expo Osaka, the Region will soon activate a call for tenders for the granting of vouchers for SMEs active in the key sectors identified by the Smart Specialization Strategy.
A calendar of b2b meetings is also planned during which Lazio companies will be able to meet potential partners and establish new forms of synergies. But also a series of workshops, in which to present the results obtained and future projects, aimed at promoting meetings between regional companies and potential international collaborators.
