Brindisi probe on unsafe Boeing 787 Dreamliner components

Lower static and stress resistance, impacts on transport safety

Redazione Ansa

(ANSA) - ROME, OCT 5 - Two Brindisi aerospace companies allegedly supplied non-compliant aeronautical components to Leonardo-Aerostrutture for the production of sectors 44 and 46 of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner, the Brindisi prosecutor's office says in a new probe unveiled Saturday.
This allegedly led to the creation of aerial parts "with significantly lower static and stress resistance characteristics, with impacts on transport safety".
Prosecutors are investigating seven people as well as the two companies.
Pure titanium was allegedly used to create structural components of the aircraft, instead of titanium alloy, and the aluminum alloys used also differed from those expected. (ANSA).
