(ANSA) - ROME, OCT 6 - Jannik Sinner beat Argentina's Tomas
Etcheverry 6-7 6-4 6-2 and qualified for the last 16 of the
Shanghai Masters 100 on Sunday.
"It was a tough match, physically and mentally," said the
23-year-old South Tyrolean world number one and Aussie Open
champ who last week lost the China Open in Beijing to
21-year-old Spanish world number three, former US Open and
reigning French Open and two-time Wimbledon champ Carlos
Alcaraz.
"I had my chances in the first set, then he played a great
tiebreak.
"In the second set I was a break up, then I suffered the
counterbreak, but then I found my rhythm.
"He started to serve worse and I managed to play the return
games.
"I'm happy, tomorrow will be a day of rest that I really need to
be ready for the next match". (ANSA).
