(ANSA) - ROME, OCT 8 - Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister
Antonio Tajani said Tuesday he had spoken on the phone with his
Israeli counterpart Israel Katz who had reassured him about
taly's request to ensure maximum protection to the UNIFIL
contingent.
"Long phone conversation with Israeli Froeign Minister Israel
Katz", Tajani wrote on X.
"Italy's request to ensure maximum protection to the UNIFIL
contingent reiterated.
"He has once again reassured me about it.
"Italy's diplomatic work for peace in the Middle East
continues", wrote Tajani.
Meanwhile, military sources said the situation of Italian UNIFIL
bases in Lebanon over the past few hours - with constants
bombings that can be heard from a distance of dozens of
kilometres - ranges between a maximum 3 and 2 alert levels.
Military personnel use a helmet and protective vest, based on
the alert level activated, at times seeking shelter in bunkers
or simply limiting operations to a minimum, they said. (ANSA).
