(ANSA) - ROME, OCT 9 - The hotel sector in Italy has been
growing after a downturn registered during the Covid pandemic
with a record 224,026 workers employed on average in 2023 and a
maximum peak of 313,506 employees in July, according to a survey
conducted by hoteliers' association Federalberghi based on INPS
data.
The research was carried out in cooperation with national
tourism agency EBNT and presented at the TTG Travel experience
event.
The "record" employment figure has "never occurred in the
sector's history", said Federalberghi President Bernabò Bocca.
"The previous peak of 210,132 workers was in 2019, the year
before the pandemic.
"Youths and women represented the majority of employees" with
foreign workers "giving an essential contribution", he said.
