(ANSA) - ROME, OCT 9 - Premier Giorgia Meloni "has a lot of
nerve" in saying she won't raise taxes when she is in fact
raising them in many ways, leftwing populist opposition 5-Star
Movement (M5S) leader and former premier Giuseppe Conte said
Wednesday.
"Meloni has a lot of nerve, she says she has not increased
taxes," Conte told a press conference at the House.
" And what is the doubling of VAT on diapers? What are the cuts
to healthcare and pensions? And the cuts to tax breaks for the
purchase of a first home for some young people? And also the
intervention on excise duties which will even lead to an
increase in the shopping cart. These are cuts, they are new
taxes. Plus, what does the stability pact envisage? Cuts for 13
billion. Who signed it? Giorgia Meloni with this government".
