(ANSA) - ROME, OCT 11 - The objective of Italy's support is
to put Ukraine in the condition to negotiate for peace, Italian
Premier Giorgia Meloni said in joint statements to reporters at
the end of a bilateral meeting with Ukrainian President
Volodymyr Zelensky on Thursday night in Rome.
"The aim of our support is to place Ukraine in the condition to
be able to build a table for peace.
"A peace that cannot mean a surrender like many, too many, are
cowardly suggesting.
"This implies military support and support to the energy
sector", noted Meloni.
"With Zelensky we agreed on the importance of involving
international actors that can convince Moscow to sit around a
table and negotiate in a credible manner.
"In doing so, we must continue to react firmly on the direct and
indirect support to the Russian war effort", Meloni said in
joint statements to the press following bilateral talks with the
Ukrainian president.
The Italian premier also announced that a conference on the
reconstruction of Ukraine will be held in Rome on July 10-11
next year. (ANSA).
