(ANSA) - ROME, OCT 14 - Solidarity towards migrants underlies the Italian Constitution, President Sergio Mattarella told an event on migration in Milan Monday.
"Today immigrants are different. ..New looks, other voices. They no longer come from Southern Italy, but from further away, from European countries such as Ukraine, attacked by a senseless war, from the Balkans," he said at an event of the Immigrant Orientation Center - Franco Verga Foundation.
(They come) from other continents, also burdened by unsustainable conditions. Others are also the actors of a valuable work that tends to realize the objectives of solidarity that the Constitutional Charter has placed at the foundations of our coexistence". (ANSA).
