(ANSA) - ROME, OCT 14 - The leaders of most of Italy's
opposition parties on Monday released a joint statement calling
on Stellantis Chairman John Elkann to report to parliament on
the outlook for the carmaker's Italian plants.
Last week Stellantis CEO Carlos Tavares told parliament that
production was too expensive in Italy unless the government
delivered incentives for the sector.
Earlier on Monday Tavares said he could not rule out job cuts.
"Stellantis CEO Tavares's answers during the recent hearing
before the parliament were unsatisfactory in relation the
ongoing concerns about the future of the activity of this
industrial group in our country," said Green's Angelo Bonelli,
Azione's Carlo Calenda, Giuseppe Conte of the 5-Star Movement
(M5S), Italian Left's (SI) Nicola Fratoianni and Elly Schlein of
the Democratic Party (PD).
"This is why today our parliamentary parties presented a request
to the Speakers of the Senate and the Lower House for the
company's Chairman John Elkann to be heard as soon as possible".
