(ANSA) - ROME, OCT 14 - The president of the Italian Bishops
Conference (CEI), Cardinal Matteo Zuppi, travelled to Moscow on
Monday to meet authorities and promote the return home of
Ukrainian children as well as a prisoner exchange, said the
director of the Vatican's press office, Matteo Bruni.
"Cardinal Matteo Zuppi has started today a new visit to Moscow
as part of the mission entrusted to him by Pope Francis last
year to meet with authorities and evaluate further efforts to
help Ukrainian children return to their families and a prisoner
exchange before a much hoped for peace can be reached", Bruni
said.
Cardinal Zuppi travelled to Moscow as part of the Vatican's
humanitarian efforts over the conflict in Ukraine.
The CEI president carried out his first mission to Moscow in
June 2023. (ANSA).
