(ANSA) - ROME, OCT 15 - Israeli chief of staff, Lt.-Gen.
Herzi Haleni has spoken with his Italian counterpart,
Gen.Luciano Portolano, about the IDF's campaign in southern
Lebanon, the IDF said on Tuesday.
The talks focused on current events, notably the security
situation, including the "exploitation by Hezbollah of areas in
which UNIFIL positions and outposts are located, for its terror
activities against the State of Israel", the Israel Defence
Forces said.
Halevi said the IDF will continue to examine the circumstances
that led to UNIFIL outposts in southern Lebanon being damaged
and stressed the importance of joint military efforts against
terrorism in the region.
He also expressed appreciation for the connection between the
armed forces of the two countries, stressing that the army will
continue to deepen professional relations with the Italian armed
forces, based on the common commitment to strengthen regional
stability and security in the Middle East. (ANSA).
