Salvini says man, 26, shot by police in Verona 'won't be missed'

(ANSA) - ROME, OCT 20 - A 26-year-old man from Mali on Sunday morning was shot dead by a police officer he had attacked with a knife at Verona's Porta Nuova train station, according to a joint statement issued by the local State Attorney's office and central police department.
    The officer responded to the attack by opening fire three times and shooting him on the chest, it said.
    Deputy Premier and Transport Minister Matteo Salvini commented the news saying, "with all due respect, we won't miss him".
    "Thanks to the policemen for their duty", the leader of the League party wrote on social media, commenting the killing of the young foreigner who had tried to attack police officers with a knife. (ANSA).
