(ANSA) - ROME, OCT 21 - Births in Italy remained on a
downward trend in 2023, dropping 3.4% to 379,890, 13,000 fewer
than in 2022, Istat said on Monday.
The national statistics agency said that just over six children
were born last year for every 1,000 residents.
It added that births are set to drop even more this year.
It said that, according to provisional data for the January-July
period,, there were 4,600 fewer births than in the first seven
months of 2023. (ANSA).
