IMF says Italy GDP +0.7% in 2024, +0.8% in 2025

Next year trimmed by 0.1% compared to July, better than Germany

(ANSA) - ROME, OCT 22 - The Italian economy will grow by 0.7% this year and 0. 8% next year, the International Monetary Fund said Tuesday, confirming its July growth forecast for 2024 and trimming its 2025 GDP forecast by 0.1%.
In 2024, it said, Germany will do worse, with zero growth estimated (-0.2 percentage points compared to July).
For 2025, the Fund estimates German growth at 0.8% (-0.5 percentage points).
"A persistent weakness in manufacturing weighs on the growth of countries such as Germany and Italy", said the IMF.
Italy, however, should benefit more from a boost to internal demand stoked by the EU-funded post COVID National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP), said the fund. (ANSA).
