(ANSA) - ROME, OCT 23 - An autopsy on the body of Stefano Dal Corso who died aged 42 in his cell on 12 October 2022 at the prison of Oristano revealed he might have been strangled, the detainee's family lawyer said on Wednesday.
The autopsy's results are compatible both with "atypical hanging as well as strangulation", said the lawyer, Armida Decima, addressing a press conference on the case held at the Lower House.
However, she said the autopsy, which was carried out one year and a half after Dal Corso's death, did not allow to determine the exact cause of death because of the condition of the lungs which were "rotten".
"The expert witnesses of the prosecution have said it could be compatible with hanging but they can't rule out strangulation.
"We will oppose a request to shelve the case", concluded the attorney. (ANSA).
