(ANSA) - ROME, OCT 28 - Data provided by the interior ministry through the Eligendo site showed turnout for Liguria's regional election at 23:00 Sunday was 34.68%, down from the 39. 8% recorded at the same hour in 2020.
The voting stations reopened at 7:00 on Monday and voters have until 15:00 to cast their ballots.
Liguria is electing a new governor in the first of three key tests for the government and opposition ahead of other regional votes scheduled in Umbria and Emilia-Romagna on November 17-18.
Centre-right candidate, two-time and current Genoa Mayor Marco Bucci, is facing former environment and justice minister Andrea Orlando of the centre left, with pre-election surveys saying the race will be tight.
The Liguria election was called after two-term centre-right governor Giovanni Toti quit amid a graft probe. (ANSA).
