(ANSA) - ROME, OCT 30 - The weekly gross salaries of men in
2023 were on average 28.34% higher than those of their female
colleagues, national statistics bureau ISTAT said Wednesday.
On average, men earned 643 euros per week compared to the 501
euros made by their female counterparts, the bureau noted.
ISTAT also highlighted a significant pay gap between non-EU and
EU workers, reporting that on average male and female workers
from EU countries were paid 582 euros a week compared to the 385
euros made by non-EU citizens (+51%).
In general, foreigners represented 10.7% of the workforce but
25% of newly hired employees, ISTAT also said.
Among non-EU workers, women made on average 309 euros a week and
men 432 euros. (ANSA).
