(ANSA) - ROME, NOV 3 - A 17-year-old boy has admitted to
shooting dead an 19-year-old man in the town of San Sebastiano
al Vesuvio, near Naples, on the night between Friday and
Saturday, sources said on Sunday.
The suspect had initially tried to deny being the killer but
eventually confessed to police after being fingered by several
eye-witnesses and due to the evidence of footage from
video-surveillance cameras, the sources said.
The victim has been named as Santo Romano, a goalkeeper for
Micri di Volla soccer team in the semi-professional Eccellenza
championship, the fifth tier of Italian football.
He died of his injuries in hospital after being shot in the
chest during a row between two groups of young people.
The suspected killer had reportedly only recently been released
from a juvenile detention centre. (ANSA).
