(ANSA) - ROME, NOV 3 - Nigeria winger Ademola Lookman scored a first-half double to set Atalanta on their way to a 3-0 win at the home of Serie A leaders Napoli on Sunday.
Italy forward Mateo Retegui was also on target in stoppage time to seal the triumph for the Bergamo side.
Europa League champions Atalanta have provisionally climbed to second thanks to the victory with 22 points from 11 games, three points fewer than Antonio Conte's Napoli, ahead of the rest of the weekend's fixtures.
Fiorentina also have 22 points in third after they continued their impressive form with a 1-0 victory a Torino, with Italy forward Moise Kean scoring the winning goal shortly before half time.
"There were incidents with the goals, in which we could have done better, that made the difference, but I have nothing to say to the team (to reproach them)," Conte told Dazn television.
"We used a lot of energy.
"There is little to complain about.
"Up to now we have done well, very well indeed.
"We came up against a strong team that is stronger than us at the moment. "Atalanta has been following a path for many years.
"It is a team that has a structured squad that should scare everyone because it is a strong team with an excellent coach.
"We have to accept these matches, evaluate them, because they are part of a process".
Serie A champions Inter can regain second place and pull within a point of Napoli if they beat promoted Venezia at San Siro later on Sunday. (ANSA).
