(ANSA) - ROME, NOV 6 - Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi
said on Wednesday that 55,892 migrants have reached Italy's
coasts between the start of the year and November 4, down 62%
compared to the same period in 2023 and down 36% from 2022.
Police forces have also arrested over the past two years more
than 450 migrant traffickers, the interior minister said.
"Between the start of the year and last October 27, 4,514
migrants were repatriated, up 15% compared to 2023 and 34%
compared to 2022", Piantedosi also reported, adding the
government intends to "further increase the effective number of
repatriations". (ANSA).
