(ANSA) - ROME, NOV 7 - Inter and Atalanta boosted their chances of direct qualification for the last 16 of the Champions League by beating Arsenal and Stuttgart 1-0 and 2-0 respectively away from home on Wednesday.
Turkey midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu converted a penalty at the end of the first half to earn Inter a win that puts them fifth in the table at the mid-way stage of the first round with 10 points from four games.
Atalanta are four places further back with eight points after goals by Nigeria winger Ademola Lookman and Italy's Nicolo Zaniolo gave the Bergamo side an important win.
The teams that finish in the top eight qualify directly for the last 16.
Juventus are 11th with seven points after drawing 1-1 at Lille on Tuesday.
Seven-time European champions AC Milan are 20th with six points following their 3-1 victory over holders Real Madrid.
