(ANSA) - ROME, NOV 8 - The attacks on Jewish football fans in
Amsterdam on Thursday night are a shame that recalls the dark
times of Nazism, Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani said on X
Friday.
"Hunting Jews does not mean defending the Palestinian people,"
said Tajani, who is also deputy premier.
"There is no room for anti-Semitism in Europe.
"A shameful episode that takes us back to the dark times of
Nazism. "Solidarity with the Israelis attacked today in
Amsterdam and with all Jewish communities in the world".
Israeli football fans faced a series of attacks in the centre of
Amsterdam with riot police having to intervene several times to
protect supporters of the Israeli club Maccabi Tel Aviv who had
travelled to the Dutch capital for a Europa League match against
Ajax. (ANSA).
