(ANSA) - ROME, NOV 13 - Roman singer-songwriter Antonello
Venditti said "we have to make Rome great again" after receiving
the city's top honour the Capitoline Wolf on Wednesday.
"It's easy to love and hate Rome, if you're Roman," said the
75-year-old 'cantautore', many of whose most popular songs
celebrate the Eternal City.
"We can't stand other people's criticism. This is a much-loved
city, even though we think it's hated and the object of racial
hatred.
"For this reason we must respect it more, Romans must give more.
"We want to make Rome great again".
Venditti went on to say that he loved everything about his city,
warts and all.
"I love Rome in all its forms. I have a vocation that makes me
love the city with its defects, we have come to love the
potholes of Rome, they are part of our life, we make flowers
grow there". (ANSA).
