(ANSA) - ROME, NOV 15 - A gym at an Italian UNIFIL
peacekeepers base in Lebanon has been hit by an artillery shell
that did not explode and Italy has asked Israel to explain the
incident, Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani said Friday.
"I have asked the new Israeli Foreign Minister for
clarifications on what happened in Shama", in Lebanon, "where an
unexploded artillery shell hit the gym of our UNIFIL base," said
Tajani, who is also deputy premier, on the sidelines of a visit
to Munich.
"I reiterated the request for protection for the Italian
soldiers, who are there for peace and are not terrorists.
"He was very helpful and guaranteed an immediate investigation
into the incident". (ANSA).
