(ANSA) - ROME, NOV 19 - Serie A strugglers Genoa have decided
to sack coach Alberto Gilardino and are set to bring in Patrick
Vieira, sources said on Tuesday.
Italy's oldest club are currently 17th in Serie A, one point
above the relegation zone, with 10 points from 12 games.
Nevertheless, the sacking, which had not yet been made official
at the time of writing, is slightly surprising as Genoa's form
had picked up slightly, with them getting four points from their
last two games.
The 42-year-old had been in charge of Genoa for two years and
led them to promotion from Serie B in the 2022-23 campaign
before guiding them to safety last season.
Former France midfielder Vieira was head coach of French side
Strasbourg last term. (ANSA).
