(ANSA) - ROME, NOV 26 - Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani said
Tuesday Italy was friends with Israel but it had to follow
international law regarding the International Criminal Court's
arrest warrant for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for alleged
war crimes in Gaza.
On the ICC "we will talk later", "we are friends of Israel but I
think we must respect international law", said Tajani on the
sidelines of the G7 Foreign Affairs meeting in Fiuggi south of
Rome, answering a question on the common G7 line to adopt
regarding the ICC arrest warrants against Netanyahu, his former
defence minister Yoav Gallant and Hamas commander Mohammed Deif,
the latter for the October 7 2023 attacks that triggered
Israel's campaign.
