(ANSA) - ROME, DEC 5 - Amazon said Thursday that it
successfully tested its first drone delivery in Italy on
Wednesday.
The online retail giant hopes to launch a drone-delivery service
here next year.
It said it used a MK-30 drone to deliver an Echo Spot smart
alarm to a destination near its San Salvo distribution centre in
Abruzzo.
It said the drone had a highly automatized system that enabled
it to move around far from obstacles in order to protect the
safety of people, animals and property.
The drone weighs around 36 kilos and has a range of 24km for the
round trip and can deliver packages of up to 2.5 kilos.
Around 90% of the products Amazon sells weigh less than this.
