Covered walkway has been closed for eight years

(ANSA) - FLORENCE, DEC 5 - The Vasari Corridor, the covered walkway linking the Uffizi Gallery with Palazzo Pitti in Florence, will reopen to the public on December 21.
The corridor running above the iconic Ponte Vecchio that spans the Arno River was closed in 2016 for safety reasons.
The public will be able to enjoy it again after the recent completion of an 11-million-euro renovation that started in 2022.
The last previous renovation dated back to the 1990s.
The Vasari Corridor was built in 1565 to a design by architect Giorgio Vasari after Florence's then Medici rulers decided they wanted to move freely and secretly between the seat of city government in Palazzo Vecchio and their private palace in Palazzo Pitti on the other side of the Arno.
