(ANSA) - ROME, DEC 6 - Alpine rescue services rescued some
150 skiers and hikers after ski lifts were hit by icy gales in
the Valsesia winter sports area near Vercelli Friday.
A group of people, the Piedmont Alpine and Speleological Rescue
Service said, is at the Passo dei Salati ski lift station where
the company that manages the slopes has started transporting
them down the valley using snow groomers.
Difficulties are being reported down the valley, between
Pianalunga and Alagna where there is not enough snow for
transport with snowcats and the presence of ice on the service
roads prevents access with wheeled vehicles.
At the moment, the Alpine Rescue said, there are no critical
situations. (ANSA).
