(ANSA) - ROME, DEC 7 - The government is to safeguard users
of medical marijuana amid a crackdown on driving under the
influence (DUI) of drugs or alcohol that comes into effect
December 14.
Transport Minister Matteo Salvini has written to his interior
and health colleagues, Matteo Piantedosi and Orazio Schillaci,
to draft protections and exemptions for those have prescriptions
for therapeutic cannabis and other medically prescribed
substances as the new road safety law nears.
The new highway code lays down stiff penalties for those found
with even small traces of drugs and alcohol, including the
confiscation of driving licenses. (ANSA).
