(ANSA) - ROME, DEC 8 - Lando Norris in a McLaren won the Abu
Dhabi GP, the final Formula 1 race of the season, handing the
constructors' world title to his team, which had not won it
since 1998.
For Ferrari, second place by Carlos Sainz and third by Charles
Leclerc, who had started from the last row, were not enough for
a last-gasp comeback.
Norris's teammate Oscar Piastri only came 10th after a shunt by
three-time and current world champ Max Verstappen of Red Bull at
the start.
But the heroics of Leclrec and Sainz - in his last race before
being replaced by joint-record seven-time champ Lewis Hamilton -
were not enough to make up the 21 point gap the Italian glamour
team had before the start. (ANSA).
