(ANSA) - ROME, DEC 16 - Fiorentina midfielder Edoardo Bove vowed to return to action soon in a long message posted on Instagram on Monday two weeks after he collapsed during a Serie A match against Inter.
"The unpleasant episode that occurred during Fiorentina-Inter showed me, even more than I thought, that football is much more than a match, a championship, or a career," said the 22-year-old, who was discharged from Florence's Careggi hospital on Friday.
"Football is a community of people, linked by the same passion, who share moments of joy, emotion, anger, disappointment and suffering".
He thanked everyone for the affection received after the collapse, saying it made it impossible to feel lonely.
"I'm fine and that's the most important thing," he said.
"See you soon...On the field." While in hospital Bove underwent a series of tests, the results of which doctors will use to try to establish what caused the health scare.
On Tuesday he had a removable subcutaneous defibrillator implanted.
The defibrillator will have to be removed if he is to return to action in Italy as Italian regulations, unlike those of countries such as Britain, Spain and Germany, do not allow players to have them. (ANSA).
