Pavia prosecutors probe death of mother-baby during delivery

(ANSA) - ROME, DEC 18 - The State attorney's office in Pavia has opened an investigation into the death in the night between Monday and Tuesday of a pregnant woman and her unborn baby at the local San Matteo Polyclinic medical centre, judicial sources said Wednesday.
    Andreea Mihaela Antochi, 30, and the baby she was carrying, Sasha Andrei Lovin, died during delivery.
    According to preliminary reports, the woman died from respiratory failure.
    Doctors were unable to save her infant with an emergency C-section.
    An autopsy will be carried out as part of the probe to determine the cause of death. (ANSA).
