(ANSA) - MILAN, DEC 26 - A ban on smoking in open public
spaces in Milan, approved by the city council in 2020, will come
into force as of New Year's Day.
The move is part of a drive to combat air pollution and
encourage people to make healthy lifestyle choices.
The city had already banned smoking at some open spaces, such as
bus-stops, but this has now been extended to all public areas,
such as streets, parks and sporting facilities, unless it is
possible to maintain a distance of at least 10 metes between
people.
The ban does not apply to electronic cigarettes. (ANSA).
