Zelensky says grateful to Italy, Meloni for G7 presidency

(ANSA) - ROME, DEC 31 - Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Tuesday he was grateful to Italy and Premier Giorgia Meloni for their just-completed term in the G7 presidency which saw unstinting support for his country against the Russian invasion.
    "I am grateful to Italy and to the President of the Council of Ministers, Giorgia Meloni, for the extraordinary presidency of the G7 this year. Italian leadership is an example of unity, strength and determination", he said on X.
    "A special thank you for the historic decision of the G7 to allocate 50 billion dollars in funding from Russia's frozen assets," Zelensky added.
    "Our cooperation helps save thousands of lives, preserve families and ensure a future for Ukrainian children.
    "Together, we are moving closer to a just peace and global security". (ANSA).
