(ANSA) - ROME, JAN 12 - Iranian judicial authorities have
said that Abedini Najafabadi Mohammad will return to Iran "in
the coming hours", Iranian news agency IRNA reported on Sunday.
In a note issued earlier on Sunday, the Italian justice ministry
announced that Justice Minister Carlo Nordio has filed a request
to Milan's appeals court to revoke Abedini's arrest.
The 38-year-old Iranian engineer was arrested on December 16 at
Milan's Malpensa airport under a US arrest warrant for allegedly
exporting drone parts allegedly used to kill three US servicemen
in Jordan a year ago.
In the note, the justice ministry said Abedini's alleged crimes
were either not punishable under Italian law or lacked evidence.
