(ANSA) - ROME, JAN 12 - Three people were reported dead on
Sunday after they were hit by an avalanche in Trasquera, in the
Piedmont area of Verbano-Cusio-Ossola, rescuers said.
Two others who were involved in the incident were taken to a
local hospital by helicopter.
A skier first saw the avalanche hit three people and warned
rescue services.
It is still unclear whether the victims were skiing off-piste or
whether they were hikers on snowshoes. (ANSA).
