(ANSA) - ROME, JAN 14 - Premier Giorgia Meloni on Tuesday
signed off as the president of the European Conservatives and
Reformists Party (ECR), which her right-wing Brothers of Italy
(FdI) party belongs to at the EU level, and handed the baton to
new president, former Polish prime minister Mateuzt Morawiecki
of the Law and Justice (PiS) party.
"It has been an honour and a privilege for me to serve as
president of our party," Meloni told a meeting of the ECR
council via video line, sources said.
"Together, we have given a voice to tens of millions of European
citizens in favour of the values ;;of freedom, national
sovereignty, security and social cohesion. "Furthermore, we have
cultivated relationships and fostered exchanges with
non-European and overseas conservatives." (ANSA).
