New record for Italian instrument heading for Moon

(ANSA) - ROME, JAN 22 - An satellite navigation receiver designed for the journey to the Moon, LuGre, has set a new record by tracking five navigation satellites at a distance of 331 thousand kilometers, the Italian Space Agency (ASI) said Wednesday.
    On January 17th the instrument set its first record, receiving signals at a distance of 200 thousand kilometers, never reached before.
    The joint mission of ASI and NASA "continues to obtain unprecedented results, confirming the feasibility of using terrestrial GNSS constellations for navigation at a distance close to that of the Moon", said ASI in a note. (ANSA).
