(ANSA) - ROME, JAN 31 - A 60-year-old Italian priest got 21
and a half years in jail Thursday from Italy's supreme court for
strangling to death a 92-year-old former priest at a religious
lodging in Trieste in April 2014 after a row over an allegedly
stolen gold chain, legal sources said Friday.
The convicted murderer, Don Paolo Piccoli, was arrested in his
room at Roma's Gemelli Hospital, the one habitually used by
popes.
Piccoli, who was born in Veneto and is on leave from the curia
in L'Aquila, was found guilty of suffocating and strangling to
death monsignor Giuseppe Rocco.
Piccoli is under police guard at the Policlinico Gemelli.
