Ski World Championships: Brignone takes silver in SuperG

Gold for the Austrian Venier, Goggia ends up in fifth place

(ANSA) - ROME, FEB 6 - Italy's Federica Brignone won silver in the superG at the World Championships in Saalbach on Thursday.
    The 34-year-old from Milan, Italy's winningest World Cup female skier with 31, second only to the great Alberto Tomba on 50, completed the course in 1. 20.57.
    The gold, in 1.20.47, went to the Austrian Stephanie Venier and the bronze ex aequo in 1.20.71 to the Norwegian Kajsa Vickhoff Lie and the American Laurence Macuga.
    Fifth place in 1.20.77 went to the other Italian Sofia Goggia, a 32-year-old from Bergamo, who won Italian women's first Olympic gold in 2018 and has 26 World Cup wins.
    Brignone sits atop this year's World Cup downhill and overall standings. (ANSA).
