(ANSA) - ROME, FEB 6 - Federica Brignone said after winning
the silver medal in the Super-G at the world championships at
Saalbach in Austria Thursday that she had done her best on the
right day.
"I'm proud and happy, very happy to have done my best on the
right day," said Italy's most successful World Cup female skier.
"In SuperG I had never managed to do well in a major event. This
track was perhaps not in my style and I told myself to take
risks even in the two points where it was possible, even at the
cost of going out".
"It's a great feeling, I felt a lot of pressure on me in a
season like this - continued the 34-year-old from the Aosta
Valley
"I expected myself first of all to do something great but I
managed to concentrate on my skiing. I made a few mistakes, but
I'm very happy, both with my performance and with the choices
made in the materials and for this I thank my team for the great
work we've done in these months. I told myself to ski at full
speed and to take risks and now I'm enjoying this medal: a great
source of pride".
Only six hundredths of a second left compatriot Sofia Goggia,
the Olympic 2018 downhill champion, at the foot of the podium,
fifth.
The 32 year old from Bergamo said: "Someone has to be at the
foot of the podium and today it was my turn. I had a good race,
a few imperfections here and there, I think I gambled it all in
the final jump, too far to the right.
"I'm sorry for those hundredths: that's exactly what I did in
Schladming in 2013 when I was fourth in my first world
championship.
"The downhill will be different from this SuperG: today there
was good snow to push on.
In the downhill I have many things to hone, to review". (ANSA).
