Oilman coughed up 1mn for Mideast journo 'ransoms'

(ANSA) - ROME, FEB 9 - Oil man and ex Inter Milan president Massimo Moratti, the family that owns the Menarini pharma group and the Beretta firearms dynasty have filed complaints to Milan prosecutors saying they have been victims of a scam involving the payment of bogus ransoms for journalists working in the Middle East in which the IA-generated fake voice of Defence Minister Guido Crosetto was allegedly used to endorse the cash requests.
    Billionaire petroleum businessman Moratti, 79, was the only one of the thee targets who actually paid up, reportedly handing over some one million euros, judicial sources said.
    Fashion great Giorgio Armani and Prada CEO Patrizio Bertelli were among the other wealthy people contacted by the scammers, sources said Friday.
